In october the governer of Quintana Roo, Félix González Canto, officially gave green light to the start of the construction of the Malecon, a 3 kilometer paved walking lane on the coastal road of Mahahual.
The first phase of the project, starting at the lighthouse and ending at the fishermans pier, is planned to be finished by the end of december 2007.
In january 2008 the second part will be started, including the construction of a new square in the center of town.
Total investment will be some 140 million pesos
